Well, my first attempt at Pyrography was for a special Soldier, my brother in law. I thought I'd share the pics of my work with y'all. I whited out the personal inscriptions. I've never tried pyrography in my life and my husband actually introduced me to it many years ago. So, yay for learning something new everyday! Since I just got news that he received it today and was very happy to have it as a keepsake box while being away from his wonderful family, I can finally show y'all what I did. Haha!
| I'm not quite sure why this is sideways but y'all can still see it... |
I just want y'all to know I was just winging the pyrography.. I had checked youtube for some tips, and there were only 2 examples and they weren't very informative at all!! Youtube had failed me!! =P
I couldn't afford the expensive how to books to help me through the process... LOL I just prayed and this was what I ended up with.
I must admit I haven't felt the "tis the season" feeling people get around this time of year... but I gotta say.. today was completely different. Knowing how much he enjoyed his gift.. yes he got it early!! Haha.. but just knowing that.. has really warmed up my holiday cheer.
I also recently read via facebook of a widow who decided to pay off complete strangers' lay-a-ways in Kmart and it inspired me to put some money on someone's lay-a-way even though it was only $20. This was a couple weeks after I overheard a woman complaining about the Salvation Army standing outside of Walmart. Saying, "Oh Gosh! They are at both ends. I can't stand it, people beggin' for money." REALLY?!? I was so upset to hear someone talk down about others in need. I could go on and on but I won't. So, I ask you... will YOU pay it forward as well?
Much love and many blessings,
*HUGS* =^_^=

Hello, Merenwynn I think if what you do brings a smile and joy to someone else's heart, then you've done a wonderful thing. Keep up the good work, because I'm sure that the joy that you bring always returns to your own heart. We all went to Fort Hood in Texas late last night in order to surprise my nephew arriving home from Afghanistan. We are a family raised in the U.S. Air Force, 3 of my brothers served in the Air Force,1 brother-in-law in the Navy, 1 sister-in-law in the Air Force, 2 of my nephews in the Army, 2 of my nieces husbands are in the Air Force and Marines, and I served from 1982 through 1988 as a Medic in the Army. We know what is required of all of us a citizens of this great nation of OURS. Thank you for your caring attitude and respect for those who Lay it all on the Line for us. I donate to several charities like St. Jude Children's Hospital, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, My own Church's Food Pantry and others that I find that are also in need. I believe that Jesus called on all of us to find those in need, and to alleviate their suffering just as he did for all of us. I saw some of the same type of news stories from Ohio where a widow paid off ALL of the Lay-a-ways for every customer in that store. If I remember right it was about $5000.00 worth of lay-a-way. Great story, I love to hear of such caring when the only thing being posted on YouTube by the Selfish Children of the "ME" generation is of them shamelessly exploiting themselves by beating on each other or innocent people. No class and not of any sort of entertainment value and certainly not any Christian Values. Hopefully they will grow up quickly and see the error of their ways. I've had the pleasure of paying it forward several times in my life, JESUS will always reward us in our hearts for all the great deeds we do for others. Getting back to my nephews triumphant return from Afghanistan, I believe the joy that everyone in each family being there for our soldiers return warmed all of their hearts. I could see in the expressions on their faces that they felt all the love pouring into the gymnasium. I love to capture all of the excitement on my camera, and did so. I'm glad to hear that you are continuing with the expansion of your creative expression. May GOD bless you and your family, and Have a Merry CHRISTmas !!! the77surfer
